“Power of
One”
Over
all, I thought this film was interesting with a good theme and message. The
ways that Pk went through some of the scenes in the movie brought out the devotion
to end apartheid and courage in him. In the end Pk shows his devotion to end
apartheid. The cops come in and start fires and try to kill Pk, but he makes it
through everything and lives at the end, so does his boxing friend, Guidean. Another part of the film that PK shows
courage is where he teaches the natives English. He argues with his professor
so that he will be able to teach them English. He shows courage because he
wants to stand up for what he wants to do.
Another
man I found to be significant throughout the movie was the medicine man. When
Pk was imagining the elephant taking him hand he sees this throughout most of
the film. This is showing him to be brave and take the chance to see what will
happen. Also the medicine man gives him a chicken which represents the courage
and braveness in him. To Pk the chicken was his only friends. He uses the
chicken to keep away all he mean people at the boarding school, then they kill
the chicken and he is unhappy because it was his friend.
Throughout
the film I enjoyed many scenes but some of my favorite parts of the movie were
when Pk was taught boxing by Geel Piet, and how he used this
skill thought the film to get him through tough situations. Some examples of
tough situations he went through were when his family was dying, Maria dies,
and Geel Piet passed away. Through all the situations he did he had courage and
fought his way through the battles and at the end he lived, along with Guidean
Duma.
