Power Of One Reflection- Brooke Gazzarato

“Power of One” was a very intriguing movie. It was a very inspiring story, but very emotional. It shows the evil racism in South Africa at the time being and how one person can make a difference against an unpopular idea. In the story I really liked how they emphasized how much one person can make a difference. It showed how determined PK was and how he never took no for an answer. This is a really strong message considering he had such little power compared to all the other people. He was only one person, but he stood up for his beliefs and I have respect for that. PK, being the power of one, gave an overall tone for the movie even though there were some ups and downs; I think it had a good lesson to the story. Overall “The Power of One” had a very good plot and I liked how it was set up. It showed the power of one along with heroism. That’s why I really liked this story. Although the movie had a good lesson and main idea in the movie, it showed a lot of depressing moments. PK being an English boy sent into an Afrikaner school, had to deal with a lot of stuff. He got peed on and spit on just because he was sent to an all Afrikaner school and the boys there were taught beliefs against the British. He had to face bullies and he was ridiculed and even was hung upside down and hit and had his only friend (chicken) was killed. This was really sad and I felt bad for this kid. Also, I found it quite depressing when Maria died for standing up against her father. In conclusion, I was very happy we saw this movie in class I really liked the stories way of portraying the incident and I would defiantly recommend it to everyone.
