Cultural Event Speeches Reflection
Emilie Wassermann
- I think my speech went pretty well. I was nervous went I began my speech but the longer I talked the more comfortable. I think I needed to make more eye contact and not fidget so much. If I were to give another speech I would prepare longer and run through the speech more. When I did practice my speech I only practiced by myself, not in front of anyone. I think if I practiced in front of someone they could have told me what I was doing wrong or how to improve my speech. Also I wish I would have talked slower during my actual speech because I talked at a good pace when i practiced but since I was nervous at school, I talked faster and ended up being under the time limit.
- I thought that everyone did a good job with their speeches. We all talked about good events and had good content and made good uses of visual aids. However, I think the best speeches came from Amber and Dane. They were both very prepared, and comfortable speaking in front of the class. They both had serious topics yet managed to add in some humor. They didn't use "um" or "ah". And both either went the 7 minutes or longer, and if they did go longer it wasn't a problem because they weren't rambling, they kept you intrigued.
Great job Emilie! I thought your speech went very well and didn't come off as nervous at all to me. Even though you didn't go 5 minutes your speech had good content and I wouldn't have guessed you ended up going under the time limit. Congrats!
