In the movie “The Power of One”, there were a lot of good
things that I liked and some bad things that I didn't like.
What I liked
about the movie was the great story and message that it told. It had a good
representation of the different point of views that people had during that time
and event. It was really realistic in the way that it showed all the injustices
that occurred throughout the movie, and what actually happened, it shed light
on the struggle for freedom and how wrong the Africans were treated while they
were being colonized.
Another thing I
liked about the movie were the characters. My favorite character would have to
be P.K. Throughout the movie he showed tons of bravery and courage. He went
against laws to help the Africans learn how to read and write English, he
brought hope to them and brought them together. Just like Geel Piet said. He
risked his life, and other people’s lives for a better cause. My second
favorite character is Guideon Duma because is very determined and like P.K, risks
the life of himself and his friends for something he strongly believed in.
What I didn't
like about the movie was how sad it was. It would be good, and then something
would go wrong. Over and over again just once you thought nothing could get
worse. One of my least favorite parts of the movie was when the chicken died.
The chicken was the only good thing at the school where almost everyone bullied
P.K and it was killed. Although the way the officers acted was realistic to how
they use to in the prison camps, I still didn't like
them. Especially Sergeant Bormann, the one who killed Geel Piet.
Overall, I really
enjoyed this movie and it would definitely be something I would watch again.

The emotion is the only saving grace of this movie though.
