Kelly Kissick

The Power of One surprised me. It wasn’t just a regular boring school movie. There were a lot of parts that I found enjoyable. For example, one of my favorite parts was when P.K. led the whole African prison in song. It showed how powerful a little boy can be. There was a part in that scene that I didn’t like, also. That was when Geel Peit was beaten to death and forced to eat poop by that officer. This movie was both happy and sad at the same time. The happy parts were like when P.K. wins the boxing championship, when the African children read the American constitution, and when P.K. teaches the prison people to sing a new song. Those were some of my favorite parts. The parts I didn’t like were the sad parts. For example, when Maria dies, when Peit dies, and when P.K.’s chicken is killed by the bullies at his boarding school. This movie was one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen in my life. To me, it seemed like there were more sad parts then happy parts and I would much rather have happy parts than sad parts. The movie brought me close to tears a few times, but that only shows that The Power of One is a good film.

  1. I like it! Lucky you, I've seen more depressing movies. (Like the fault in our stars)

  2. Nice job Kelly! One of my favorite parts as well, was when all of the African prisoners began to sing the tribal songs together. Like you said, the movie was both happy and sad and I completely agree with you.
