Speech Reflection

For my cultural presentation speech, I felt I was very well prepared yet still nervous. As soon as I set
my notecards down on the podium I felt my voice start to get shaky. I’m pretty sure I started out kind of quiet, but as I continued my speech my nerves began to lessen. I feel I did well on remembering what I wanted to say and not looking at my cards the entire time. I should probably work on calming my nerves and making more direct eye contact. If I were to give my speech over again (which is not something I want to do) I would probably be less nervous due to the previous experience of presenting in front of the class.

In my opinion, I think Amber had one of the more compelling and interesting speeches. Not only is she an amazing public speaker (like many others in the class) but she had a very unique topic that no one else chose.

  1. Thank you so much Kristi! You did an awesome job! (Whether you think so or not, lol) If I could make one tip to you, I wouldn't make more direct eye contact, but I would scan the audience more. Staring at one person at a time, can be scary at first, so only do it if you're comfortable with it.

  2. I really enjoyed listening to your speech. I like your approach on "Inherit the Wind" and how instead of retelling the story you described the struggles between religion and freedom of thought, It was interesting to hear.

  3. Your speech was really good and like everyone else you could tell you were a little nervous at the beginning but it settled out and you did a god job.

  4. Kristi you did a great job with your speech! I would agree that you started out quiet but you did get louder and more confident as you continued with your speech. And I the whole class could benefit from making more eye contact but I thought you did a good job with it for your first speech, so don't be so hard on yourself! Once again, Great job on your speech!

  5. Even though you were nervous at the beginning as the speech went on you did great! You set up your speech good and I liked to see your vision on the event.
